The Paramedic Certificate at Southeastern Community College prepares students to take the National Registry exam for certificate as a paramedic. The curriculum uses selected general courses related to Emergency Medical Services to build a broad base for making reasoned decisions when giving emergency care. Key courses include Paramedic I, Paramedic II, and Paramedic III.
Instruction includes lecture, lab, clinical, and on-job training within the course sequence. EMS-201 includes lecture, lab, on-job training, and clinical, and it prepares students for eligibility to take the National Registry practical and written exam for EMT certification. The EMS program includes EMT classes in night and day part-time formats, while the paramedic is offered as a full-time day format.
Graduates can work with ambulance crews as the lead person and pursue further advancement by continuing on to earn the Paramedic AAS degree. The program connects to outcomes that include roles across ground or air medical transport and ambulance service, along with settings such as fire stations and hospitals.
