Communication and Media Studies (BA)

The Communication and Media Studies (BA) program at Fayetteville State University studies how communication and technology affect the world. You can focus on professional communication studies, mass communication, or journalism, or combine areas. Core courses include introduction to communication, introduction to mass communication, interpersonal communication, communication theory, intercultural communication, and communication research.

The program includes practice through media communication activities such as television, film, and radio production, plus newswriting and reporting. Course options include documentary and short film production, podcast production, producing for film and video, and fundamentals of journalism. Electives also include media programming, telecommunications management, news writing and reporting, and media law. The degree prepares students for communication-related industry roles and communication graduate programs.
