The Political Science – Public Administration BA at Thomas College prepares students to manage, lead, and run government agencies and public-sector organizations. The Public Administration concentration blends courses from political science with accounting, finance, and management, and it includes specialty courses from a consortium of colleges to build a public administration career path.
The curriculum totals 121 credit hours and includes a career-focused set of key courses such as Introduction to Public Administration, Public Budgeting and Finance, Management, Managerial Accounting, Strategic Media Planning, and Regional Economic Development. Students complete internships and have leadership development as part of the program structure.
Graduates can go on to work in policy formulation, analysis, and implementation, and they can work for a government agency, the government service sector, or a non-profit organization. The program also prepares students for roles in government management and city planning, and it may help prepare students for a master’s program in public administration.
