Post-Masters Certificate: Nursing Education

Oklahoma City University offers the Post-Masters Certificate: Nursing Education for students who already have a master’s degree in nursing and want additional knowledge for roles as a nurse educator or nurse leader. The program coursework supports development of environments that promote professional, ethical and legal nursing practice, and it focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating programs using advanced theoretical knowledge.

Students study nursing research and integrate evidence-based processes to build critical thinking for clinical, educational, and administrative judgments. Coursework also covers leadership across the life span within diverse cultures, collaboration and care coordination, and the development of practice environments that reflect acceptance, respect, and empathy. Coursework may begin in fall, spring or summer.

• NURS 6303 Contemporary Healthcare Organizations
• NURS 6314 Healthcare Economics and Financial Management
• NURS 6403 Evolving Healthcare Systems
• NURS 6413 Emerging Complex Healthcare Systems

• Admission to the university including resume and personal statement
• Two letters from professional references, such as those from employees, co-workers, or nursing school faculty members who had the applicant as a student
• of 7.0 on the speaking portion and a 6.5 on the other sub-bands
• Successful completion of a prior Master's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program
• Graduate cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better
• Current, active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Submit: Resume/CV; Personal statement; Two recommendations; Official transcripts from all institutions attended

7.0 on the speaking portion and 6.5 on the other sub-bands
