The University of West Florida offers a 100% online Public Health B.S. that uses a curriculum based on public health foundational competencies. Students build skills in population health needs assessment and analysis of health equity and disparities across populations. The program covers content areas such as planning, implementing, and evaluating health programs; occupational health and safety; epidemiology; public health responses to disasters; and public health perspectives on the U.S. healthcare system.
Students complete 120 credit hours, including 60 hours of general education and 60 hours of core, major-specific credits. Lower division work includes general education and lower division electives, with common prerequisites completed prior to graduation. Major courses include Applied Research Methods in Public Health and a Public Health Capstone. Learning is designed around practical and hands-on applied practice activities in the community, culminating in the capstone project.
