The University of West Florida offers an online Master of Public Health (MPH). The curriculum includes foundational core courses in environmental health, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, biostatistics, and public health policy. Students also complete required courses and electives within one of three concentrations: Generalist MPH, Health Promotion, Education and Behavior, or Global Health.
Students complete a 15-credit-hour foundational core, then complete required concentration courses and electives, and finish with an internship/practicum experience. The program requires a two-semester, 6 credit hour practicum in the field of public health under the guidance of a qualified mentor and an MPH Faculty Internship Advisor. Coursework is asynchronous online.
The MPH is designed for working professionals who want to balance education with work and family life. It prepares graduates to develop, implement, and evaluate public health programs for disease prevention and wellness promotion, with attention to cultural, social, economic, ethical, and legal impacts.
