This online MBA degree is discussed through a case study from Saint Leo University. Jason Kouche, a U.S. Navy logistics specialist, originally started with a general MBA direction, then switched to an MBA with a health care management concentration when he saw commission opportunities in the Navy’s Medical Service Corps. His goal was to work in medical logistics within the Medical Service Corps.
The program is delivered as online coursework. Jason continued study during deployment using Saint Leo’s Navy College Program for Afloat College Education (NCPACE), which uses the same online courses in an alternative format for limited internet access. He received course packets, completed self-paced work, returned materials after the deployment, and received grading; he then continued with online classes at home.
After completing his MBA, Jason earned an officer commission and was promoted to lieutenant junior grade. He completed five weeks of officer training, and he serves as a legal officer in the Medical Services Corps. He expects to choose a specialization in medical logistics, which requires additional three-month training.
