Theatre BA

The Theatre, B.A. at Whitworth College prepares students for work as storytellers, performers, and theatre-makers. Students study theatre theory and performance skills, and connect their beliefs and worldview to the art they create. Coursework includes Performance Theory, Acting Fundamentals, Stagecraft, and Theatre History, alongside a Senior seminar that explores integrating beliefs with artistic actions.

Learning is built around production and performance. Students rehearse acting scenes, paint sets, choreograph an original student-led piece, and participate in main-stage productions and the Festival of Short Plays. The program includes a Senior Capstone project for professional experience on the mainstage. Students also have off-campus opportunities through internships and performance with professional theatres.

The degree supports careers across creative fields, including acting, writing, editing and publishing, directing, and technical production and management. Graduates also work in areas outside the arts, such as financial analysts, human resource specialists, attorneys, and business owners.
