Boston University USA St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fellowship Award

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fellowship Award is described as supporting research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. The topics of interest include research on the biology of childhood cancers and leads to more effective treatments, including areas such as adolescents & young adults, survivorship/outcomes/quality of life, supportive care, epidemiology and pediatric cancer predispositions, precision medicine, and alternative & complementary therapies.

Applicants must hold an M.D. or D.O. and be employed by an academic or non-profit research institution or laboratory. Applicants must be in their 2nd or 3rd year of pediatric oncology fellowship by July 1, with exceptions for a research residency format (2 years of residency 4 years of fellowship). The fellowship mentor must provide supervision, facilities, and research support at an American Board of Pediatrics approved fellowship program in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Boston University may submit 1 Fellowship application. A second application may be forwarded if the project focuses on brain tumors (all types, including specified tumor types), Burkitt lymphoma (all types, especially sporadic), or rhabdoid tumors (extrarenal). Internal selection involves submitting materials via InfoReady Review, followed by work by Foundation Relations to develop and submit the LOI and applicant materials.

The funding information states up to $97,500 per year for a 2-year Fellowship ($195,000 total). A potential additional year of funding may be available based upon demonstration of need and significant accomplishment. The award covers salary and benefits only.
