Empowerment Grant – Incoming Freshmen

Cleveland State Community College offers the Empowerment Grant – Incoming Freshmen as an incoming-first-time-freshmen scholarship for students who have attained the honor of being the highest ranked student in their high school graduating class. The grant provides $1,000 for the academic year ($500 fall and $500 spring). The grant is not renewable, and the funds do not have to be repaid.

The Empowerment Grant – Incoming Freshmen is for incoming first-time freshmen, with one scholarship recipient from each of the schools within the college’s service area. Applicants are selected from the high school ranking described in the grant criteria.

Selection is based on awarding “one scholarship recipient from each of the schools within our service area” to an incoming first-time freshman who was the highest ranked student in their high school graduating class.

The grant provides two disbursements for the academic year: $500 for fall and $500 for spring. The scholarship is not renewable, and the funds do not have to be repaid.

1. Complete the general scholarship application for all scholarship opportunities through Cleveland State Community College’s online scholarship application.
2. Apply each academic year.
3. Be accepted to Cleveland State and have access to CougarNet to apply for scholarships.
4. The student will be matched to scholarships based on answers provided in the application and data pulled from student records.
