Presidential Honors Scholarship

Cleveland State Community College offers the Presidential Honors Scholarship to provide financial support to academically motivated students. The scholarship assists with the cost of books and other educational expenses such as non-mandatory fees. Interested students must complete a supplemental application that includes short essay questions and requires a letter of recommendation.

Recipients join the Honors College at Cleveland State and must meet the scholarship’s minimum requirements, including a required high school GPA to apply and ongoing college GPA requirements. The scholarship also requires enrollment each semester in at least one in-program class and a course load of at least 15 hours each semester, typically with an Honors course, to maintain progress toward degree completion.

Selection is based on matching students to scholarships through responses in the general online scholarship application and data pulled from student records (including GPA, hours enrolled, county of residence, and high school alma mater). Students must also be accepted to Cleveland State and have access to CougarNet to apply for scholarships, and they must apply each academic year.

1. Complete the general scholarship application for all scholarship opportunities through Cleveland State Community College’s online scholarship application.
2. Be accepted to Cleveland State and have access to CougarNet to apply for scholarships.
3. Complete the Presidential Honors Scholarship supplemental application, which includes short essay questions and a letter of recommendation.
4. Apply each academic year.
