DMACC Foundation USA Scholarships

Des Moines Area Community College’s DMACC Foundation offers DMACC Foundation Scholarships for students attending DMACC, with the stated purpose of providing scholarship funding for a DMACC education. The DMACC Foundation provides scholarships through donors and disburses awarded funds directly to a student’s DMACC account.

Eligibility is for applicants who meet the DMACC Foundation minimum qualifications and any additional criteria that vary by specific scholarship. Applicants match to scholarships they may qualify for by completing the DMACC Foundation General Scholarship Application, which includes multiple-choice questions used for matching.

Applicants complete the General Scholarship Application, review their answers and essay, and submit by the application deadline to be considered for scholarship review. Scholarship review committees—including community volunteers and DMACC faculty and staff—select recipients after the application period closes.

Scholarships are applied to a student’s DMACC account, and many scholarships are divided into two equal payments over the academic year if the student remains enrolled for each term. Recipients must follow any specific requirements to retain the scholarship and must write and submit a thank you note to the donor before scholarship disbursement.

• Earned a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma before the start of the upcoming fall term.
• Be a current DMACC student.
• Incoming students without a DMACC User Name or Password must first complete an application for admission to DMACC and be admitted to the College before applying for a DMACC Foundation scholarship.
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
• Enrolled at DMACC in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the fall and spring terms, or enrolled in a minimum of 4 credit hours for the summer term.
• Scholarships are based only on courses that count towards your current DMACC degree/certificate.
• Students on financial aid suspension are not eligible for a DMACC Foundation Scholarship.
• Students attending DMACC as a guest student are not eligible for a DMACC Foundation Scholarship.
• Additional criteria vary depending on the specific scholarship, and some scholarships may require a higher GPA, a particular DMACC student status (incoming student or second-year student), enrollment in a specific academic program, residency in a particular geographic area, completion of community service, or participation in co-curricular activities.
• Applicants must submit original work for the essay portion of the DMACC Foundation scholarship application; use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for writing the applicant’s essay is prohibited.
• If AI use is confirmed, the applicant will be disqualified from scholarship consideration.
• Applicants selected to receive a scholarship must accept the scholarship agreement and complete post-acceptance scholarship requirements by the deadline to avoid forfeiture of the scholarship offer.

• Scholarships awarded by the DMACC Foundation are directly applied to a student’s DMACC account.
• Scholarships may be used to cover tuition, fees, and/or book charges.
• Most scholarships are divided into two equal payments over the academic year, provided the student remains enrolled for each term.
• Scholarships designated for a specific semester apply only to that term.
• If specified by the scholarship criteria, the award amount may be adjusted to ensure it does not exceed the recipient’s tuition and fees.
• Scholarship notifications include the scholarship amount and any specific requirements to retain the scholarship throughout the academic year.

1. Make sure you have been admitted to DMACC; you will need your student ID and password to apply for a DMACC Foundation scholarship.
2. Complete the General Scholarship Application to be automatically matched with scholarships you qualify for.
3. Review your answers and essay before submitting.
4. Submit your application on time because deadlines are important for eligibility review.
5. After submission, check for a confirmation email sent to your DMACC student email address from [email protected].
6. Track your application status in the DMACC Foundation Award Management System; you may review and edit your application until the submission deadline.
7. Complete the essay portion using original work; do not use AI tools to write the essay.
