Indiana University of Pennsylvania Scholarship program

The Promising Scholars Program is described by Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a competitive scholarship program for high-achieving Pennsylvania students. It “blends financial support with academic and professional development” and is intended to support the success of outstanding minority high school students and first-generation college students. Scholarships range up to $3,000.

Eligibility is directed toward Pennsylvania high school students, with the programme specifically supporting outstanding minority high school students and first-generation college students. The programme is connected to admission to IUP, with applicants completing a Promising Scholars application online after being admitted. Admitted students and their families are invited to an overnight campus visit.

Selection is based on academic excellence, class rank, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and an essay or recommendation letter (optional). Applicants are invited to an interview event, and eligibility selection is determined by the interview together with high school academic strength, demonstrated leadership, and participation in extracurricular activities.

1. Submit your application for admission to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (“Apply now”).
2. After submitting your admission application, use your IUP App Status page to find the link to the Promising Scholars application.
3. Submit your transcripts to complete your admissions application so you can be admitted by October 31; this information is used with the Promising Scholars application to determine whether you are selected to interview.
4. Complete the Promising Scholars application online (“Promising Scholars Online Application”).
5. Submit the required admissions and Promising Scholars materials early for best consideration.
6. Be prepared for a possible invitation to an interview event after applications are considered; if selected, you will be scheduled for an interview.
