Michigan Tech University Undergraduate Research Scholarship Fall

The Michigan Technological University Department of Computer Science Undergraduate Research Scholarship provides research opportunities to Computer Science undergraduates. Michigan Technological University says the purpose is motivating creative activities and preparing students for graduate school or work in industry.

The award is for active Department of Computer Science undergraduate students. Michigan Technological University states that scholarship awards are given for semester-based funding, including fall semester awards, and that a student may submit proposals and receive awards within the stated limits.

Michigan Technological University states proposals are evaluated by a committee of four Department of Computer Science faculty members. The committee evaluates based on intellectual merit and broad impact, and the proposal must explicitly address the research problem and significance, novelty compared with related work, and broader impact, including a related work discussion with citations.

Michigan Technological University states the scholarship may be used for stipend, tuition, and/or equipment across one or two semesters. Awardees must present a research poster at the biannual Department of Computer Science research workshop at the end of each semester.

• Applicant must be an active Department of Computer Science undergraduate student.
• Proposed work must be supervised by at least one Computer Science faculty member.
• Applicant may submit up to two proposals each year.
• Applicant may receive at most one award per semester.

• $2,000 scholarship per award.

• Supporting letter and a budget are provided by the supervisor/advisor(s).

1. Submit a student research scholarship application.
2. Submit a faculty recommendation.
3. Include the required proposal content and supporting materials with the application: resume and transcript with the proposal.
4. Prepare a proposal supervised by at least one Computer Science faculty member, with the required sections and page limit; references are not counted in the page limit.
5. Wait for committee evaluation and recipient notification within two weeks of the proposal deadline.
