Need-Based Grants at Norwich University

Norwich University uses the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility for need-based grants from Norwich University for domestic students and to estimate grant amounts from a student’s state of origin if applicable. Norwich states that a student must show demonstrated need as defined by Federal Student Aid.

Norwich Grants are for domestic students seeking need-based grant support. Norwich also explains that gift aid awarded by Norwich University may pay for tuition, fees, room and board, and other University expenses, unless otherwise designated in the award description. Norwich Scholarships and grants are intended to pay for billed charges and not external costs to the University.

Norwich University awards are provided under structured awarding policies. Norwich states that the student is awarded under the university awarding policy, which provides the most funding in combination. Norwich also states that financial aid may be reduced if combinations of grants and scholarships from all sources exceed billed charges, and that tuition-based external awards and scholarships are taken into consideration first in awarding policies.

Norwich Grants are funded in part by gifts from Norwich University alumni, family, and friends. Once a donor has been identified, Norwich states that a Norwich University Grant will be replaced with the endowed fund named in honor of the individual(s) who committed to investing in the student’s success. Norwich also says recipients of endowed funds will be asked to compose a letter of thanks and create a profile highlighting experiences on campus, and will be invited to attend an award luncheon. Norwich states that awards are reviewed on an annual basis.
