Yale University USA Maurice R Greenberg Fellowship

The Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellows Program is a four-month, full-time residential program for leaders with demonstrated impact. Yale’s International Leadership Center and the Jackson School of Global Affairs house the program. Yale describes the program’s purpose as increasing fellows’ capacity to make the world a better place.

Yale states the program selects a diverse cohort of World Fellows to spend four months together in residence at Yale University. Admission is aimed at leaders from across the globe and from diverse disciplines, with demonstrated and significant accomplishments at a regional, national, or international level.

Yale says admission is highly competitive and that applicants must submit materials for an online application. Yale lists selection criteria including extraordinary achievement and integrity, commitment to the good society and positive impact, promise of a future leadership career with global impact, capacity for critical, creative, entrepreneurial, and strategic thinking, and a likelihood to benefit from the program and contribute to Yale’s campus perspective.

Yale states World Fellows are required to be in residence at Yale University in New Haven for the entirety of the program. Yale also lists a compensation package that includes a taxable stipend for living costs in New Haven, a modest furnished one or two-bedroom apartment for the duration of the program, medical insurance, and round-trip travel from the home country.

• Must be between five and twenty-five years into their professional careers.
• Must have demonstrated and significant accomplishments at a regional, national, or international level.
• Must be a citizen of a country other than the United States; applicants with dual citizenship with the United States are eligible.
• Yale gives strong preference to candidates whose work is focused outside the United States (dual-citizenship applicants are not excluded).
• Must be fluent in English.
• Must be in residence at Yale University in New Haven for the entirety of the program.
• Yale does not require a specific age for applicants; there is no minimum or maximum age limit.

1. Submit the admission application online; Yale states there are no paper forms to complete or mail.
2. Pay a $20 application fee.
3. Create an account and access the online application.
4. Before the deadline, work on the application at any time and submit it when ready.
5. After creating an account and accessing the online application, upload application materials and request letters of recommendation.
6. Complete and submit the required materials: résumé/curriculum vitae, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and a brief video statement (with comprehensive instructions available in the online application after you create an account).
