6 findings
  1. The short answer

The University of New Orleans is a public research university in the United States, in New Orleans, Louisiana. It suits students who want a doctoral-level public university with a broad set of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral options.

  2. What you can study

Students can study across eight schools and colleges, with 46 bachelor's, 40 master's, and 17 doctoral degree programs. The university also offers the only mechanical and electrical engineering undergraduate programs in New Orleans, the only graduate hospitality and tourism program in Louisiana, a PAB-accredited urban planning program in the state, and one of the few schools of naval architecture and marine engineering in the United States.

  3. Getting in

International applicants should apply through the university’s official admissions process and check the current entry requirements on the university website. Confirm required academic documents, English language requirements, deadlines, and whether your programme has any extra conditions before you apply.

  4. What it costs

The university does not publish a fee range for international students; confirm the current tuition with its admissions office. Living costs in New Orleans will depend on housing, transport, food, and personal spending, so budget separately for those expenses.

  5. Coming from abroad

The university’s language of instruction is not stated here, so confirm that on the official website before applying. Also check visa requirements, document translation needs, the application deadline, and whether your chosen programme has any additional international admissions steps.

  6. How it compares

With 2,515 universities in the United States, this is one option in a very large higher education market. Its main point of difference is that it is a public doctoral research university with several programme areas that are unusually specific for the New Orleans and Louisiana context.

Written from this university's catalogue entry and its cited encyclopedia summary. Figures are only shown where the institution or a cited source publishes them — always confirm fees and entry requirements with the university itself before applying.
