University of Sydney Scholarship for International Students Overview

A fully financed master’s and PhD scholarship is available to international students through the University of Sydney Scholarship. The living allowance and tuition costs are covered by this scholarship. $40,000 in scholarship money is due over the course of a year in two equal payments.

Please be aware that it could take up to four months from the time your application is submitted until you receive an email letting you know whether you were accepted or not. There is no need to submit a separate scholarship application form. An application for admission to your research degree must be submitted in order to be taken into consideration for the scholarship.

The University of Sydney Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:

Eligibility Criteria for University of Sydney Scholarships:

To be eligible for the University of Sydney Scholarship for International students, you must meet the following criteria:

• Required Language: Proficiency in English.
• Eligible Countries: Open to students from all countries worldwide.
• Research Alignment: Pursuing studies in a subject area aligned with the University’s current and emerging research strengths.
• Australia Award Scholarship: Not holding an Australia Award scholarship within two years before starting the RTP Fee Scholarship.
• Full-Time Enrollment: Commencing full-time enrollment in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at the University of Sydney. Eligibility may extend until you complete up to six months of course candidature.
• Previous Scholarships: Not having received an RTP Fee Scholarship previously unless it was for a Master by Research degree, and you are now applying for a doctorate research degree.
• Research Qualification: Not holding a research qualification equivalent to an Australian Research Doctorate degree. If pursuing a Research Master’s degree, your qualification should not be equivalent to or higher than an Australian Research Master’s degree.
• Scholarship Application: Not having been considered for this scholarship more than three times in the last five years.
• Other Scholarship Schemes: Not receiving a scholarship where course tuition is covered under any other scholarship scheme substantially funded by the Australian Government.
