Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program Overview

International students who aspire to mould themselves into the next generation of leaders in business reporting are welcome to apply to the Journalists in Residence Programme.

Young journalists from around the world working in all press kinds can benefit from a transformative learning environment through the Stigler Centre Journalists in Residence Programme, which was established in March 2017. It aims to mould the upcoming group of business reporting officials.

Selected participants will audit classes, take part in activities, collaborate with peers, and mingle with the top academics from the university during the programme, which will last for about 12 weeks on our Hyde Park campus.

The Chicago Booth participants will select their own curriculum. Examples of these courses include Crony Capitalism with Professor Luigi Zingales and The Firm and the Non-Market Environment with Professor Marianne Bertrand.

Program Expectations

As a participant in the Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program, you will be expected to:

1. Audit Three Classes: Dive deep into the world of economics by auditing three classes, gaining valuable insights and knowledge.
2. Active Class Participation: Attend classes actively, complete all assigned readings, and fulfill assignments to ensure a productive learning experience.
3. Engage in Stigler Lectures and Events: Participate in Stigler lectures, social events, lunches, and other recommended center events to expand your network and knowledge.
4. Agree to Program Guidelines: Sign a letter of agreement with the center, indicating your commitment to adhere to program guidelines and expectations.

Scholarship Benefits

As a recipient of the Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program, you will enjoy the following benefits:

• Stipend: Receive a stipend of $12,000 to cover living expenses throughout the 12-week program. (Note: Tax withholding may apply for international participants.)

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required.
• Eligible Countries: Open to applicants from all countries around the world.
• Journalism Experience: Applicants should have a background in journalism with several years of media experience.
