The Master of Science degree in Biodiversity Conservation for Sustainable Development (MBSD) at Midlands State University develops knowledge, skills, and competencies for careers in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. The programme also prepares students for further studies and lifelong learning, and cultivates an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit.
Students study research methods and current issues in biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and conservation, conservation biology, and GIS and remote sensing in biodiversity conservation. The programme also covers systematics and biodiversity and molecular methods in analyses of biodiversity. Students choose two electives such as climate change impact and mitigation or aquatic pollution and ecotoxicology.
