Carleton University Ontario Graduate Scholarships

Carleton University’s Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) (Graduate Students) provides $10,000 or $15,000 for up to one year. Funding is paid at $5,000 per term for two or three consecutive terms, depending on the program. Recipients must hold the award for a minimum of two consecutive terms, and Carleton states that no backdated leave of absence (LOA) requests will be considered.

Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) at the time of the application deadline. International students studying in Ontario with a study permit under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) at the time of application are eligible to apply for allotted OGS international student awards. Applicants must be enrolled full-time or intend to be enrolled full-time in a graduate program at Carleton University in the academic year; students documented with the Paul Menton Centre may study part-time.

Carleton’s OGS application process includes completing the required online or PDF application and uploading the requested documents by the application deadline. Get Transcripts is a mandatory requirement that selection committees carefully review, and applications that do not meet transcript requirements may be rejected. Selection results are provided through competition notifications, with referee assessment required as part of the academic assessment.

The scholarship supports recipients for up to one year, paid across consecutive terms, with a requirement to hold the award for at least two consecutive terms. Carleton states maximum support limits for master’s and PhD students, plus a lifetime maximum of six years for government-funded graduate awards (including OGS and other listed programs). Recipients must accept or decline the award decision within the stated process for online or PDF applicants.

Once agreed, ensure the referee name and contact information are entered correctly in the application.If submitting online, the referee is notified by email to complete the assessment using a link after the application is submitted.If completing the PDF format application, contact the referee and request completion of the Academic Assessment form; the completed assessment must be submitted directly to the Graduate Administrator by the referee, preferably from an official institutional email address.Transcripts requirement: include up-to-date official transcripts in the application package; applications not meeting transcript requirements may be rejected.Citizenship document: upload the required citizenship document (domestic applicants: approved Canadian documents; international applicants: upload a Canadian study permit).Submit the completed application online (with MC1 credentials) or submit the complete application including official transcripts to the Graduate Administrator in the intended department (without MC1 credentials) by the application deadline.After decisions: if successful and applied through Carleton Central, accept through Carleton Central; if submitting a PDF application, print the OGS Notice of Decision form 2026-2027 and submit it to Graduate Studies, 512 Tory Building or email [email protected].
