Vanier College: the applicant's brief

6 findings
  1. The short answer

Vanier College is a public English-language college in Montreal, Quebec, offering Diploma-level study. It suits students who want a CEGEP in an English-speaking setting with a broad applied-programme mix.

  2. What you can study

You can study Diploma programmes across areas such as Animal Health Technology, Architectural Technology, Building Engineering Technology, Business Administration, Commerce, Communications, Media and Studio Arts, Computer Engineering Technology, and Computer Science Technology. The college lists 37 programmes in total, including profiles in Accounting, Marketing, Entrepreneurial Studies, International, and applications in web, games, IoT, and ethical hacking.

  3. Getting in

International applicants should check the official website for the current application steps, entry requirements, document list, deadlines, and whether their previous studies meet admission requirements for the Diploma they want. If you are applying from abroad, confirm how your qualifications are assessed and what support is available before submitting an application.

  4. What it costs

The college does not publish a tuition fee in the information available here; confirm the current international student rate with the admissions office. Living costs in Montreal will still need to be budgeted separately, along with housing, transport, books, and day-to-day expenses.

  5. Coming from abroad

The college is English-language, which matters for study and daily life. Before applying, confirm visa or study permit requirements, proof of language ability if requested, housing options, health coverage, and whether your programme has any additional placement or lab requirements.

  6. How it compares

Among 156 universities and colleges in Canada, Vanier College is one of 48 public CEGEPs in Quebec, which places it in a specific provincial system rather than the university sector. Its English-language profile and Diploma-only structure make it a practical choice for students seeking applied post-secondary study in Montreal rather than a degree-granting university pathway.
