Bachelor's in Agribusiness / Agricultural Science
Introduction
Agribusiness / Agricultural Science is a Semester 1 (February) and Semester 2 (July) Bachelor program taught at University of Queensland, Australia. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 Years (or part time equivalent)) options.
The University of Queensland’s Bachelors of Agribusiness / Agricultural Science combines two programs. In Agribusiness, students study the growing, processing, trading, marketing and financing of food and fibres, and the value chain linking producers and consumers. In Agricultural Science, students build foundations in biological concepts, plant and animal systems, ecology, chemistry, data analysis and sustainable practice, then specialise in Crop Science or Animal Science.
Learning includes lectures, tutorials, laboratory work, fieldwork, seminars, workshops and work placements. Students complete a 120-hour industry placement, or build research skills through UQ’s Summer and Winter Research Programs. The program also includes a dedicated digital agriculture course and hands-on experience across more than 1,000 hectares of working farmland, using technologies like drones, GPS, crop sensors and AI-driven data analysis. In the final year, students apply their knowledge with an agribusiness organisation to tackle real challenges.
This degree prepares graduates for management roles in Australia and globally. Career possibilities listed by The University of Queensland include agribusiness analyst, agronomist, crop scientist, data analyst, policy adviser and commercial manager, grain and commodities, depending on the major chosen.
