Introduction

Éducation spécialisée is a program taught at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Éducation spécialisée is a technique program at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme that prepares students to work as a technician in a helping relationship. Students develop observation, analysis, and intervention skills with clients of all ages. The program also builds interpersonal abilities and professional “savoir-être” to support interventions, including helping people with difficulties in adaptation and social integration.

Cégep de Saint-Jérôme presents the program as practical, with field presence each session. Students learn through active and inclusive teaching methods, including intervention simulations, client testimony, team work, and applied projects in community-based intervention settings. Client contact starts in the first session, and two practical internships in different settings are available from the third session. Stages are also offered in Belgium and France.

The program includes a final full-time internship abroad. Students can pursue roles listed by Cégep de Saint-Jérôme such as Éducateur spécialisé, Intervenant jeunesse, Intervenant communautaire, and several other specialized intervention positions across varied workplace settings.
