Certificate in Community Mental Health
Introduction
Certificate in Community Mental Health is a program taught at Douglas College, Canada. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (Up to 24 months from your start date to complete the program) options.
The Certificate in Community Mental Health is a non-credit college credential for people who want foundational knowledge and skills in mental health recovery. Douglas College says the program’s philosophy, principles, and practice are based on recovery using the Psychosocial Rehabilitation approach, which places the person, not the illness, at the center of interventions. Students study Introduction to Mental Health (IMH), MHCP 201, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), MHCP 203.
Douglas College says courses may be taken individually as long as prerequisites are met. The program is designed as self-paced with registration that is continuous. Students can take up to 24 months from their start date to complete the certificate, and Douglas College says dedicated students may finish in less than the maximum time permitted. Both courses must be completed to receive the Douglas College Continuing Education program certificate.
