Introduction

Art is a Bachelor program taught at Redeemer College, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Art is a Bachelor of Arts degree at Redeemer University. Students take Art as a major or as a minor. The program includes studio-focused classes that develop technique such as perspective, colour, and materials, and it also addresses the history of art, contemporary art practice, and theory. Students explore the intersection of religious belief and contemporary art through courses such as Figure Drawing, Faith and Art, and Modern Art History.

Art courses are focused on the studio, with studio work integrating mind, body, and spirit. In the final semester, art students prepare a Senior Exhibition, where they set their own questions and create a cohesive body of work for public display in Redeemer’s Art Gallery. The program also includes a museum/gallery trip each semester to engage with challenging contemporary work.

Redeemer’s Art program is designed for students who want to use the arts to seek God’s calling and intended purpose for creation. Alumni from Redeemer’s Art program move into careers such as illustrators, art administrators, marketing specialists, and gallery/museum curators, and they can pursue further studies such as MA in Art History or Master of Fine Arts (MFA).
