Introduction

Disability Studies is a program taught at Redeemer College, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Redeemer College offers Disability Studies as a minor. Students gain a foundation of theory regarding disability and society, with practical application. The program covers principles of diversity, inclusivity, and empathic understanding.

Disability Studies includes instruction beyond the classroom through a 120-hour internship in disability services, where students observe and participate in a job-related capacity under supervision. Field trips to L'Arche and other disability-oriented organizations support learning, including opportunities to meet professionals in disability services, including Redeemer graduates who are now in these fields.
