Bachelor's in English Literature
Introduction
English Literature is a Bachelor program taught at Redeemer College, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
English Literature at Redeemer College is a Bachelor of Arts degree offered as an honours major, a major, and a minor. Redeemer’s English Literature program prepares students to read analytically, speak clearly, and write persuasively. The program also focuses on how God is using language and literature to redeem our broken world, including “threads of common grace and redemption in all materials.”
Small seminar-style classes begin with a broad overview of different literary genres, with discussion led by professors. First-year courses use close readings of text and writing that critically analyzes texts, preparing students for future survey courses focused on genres, styles, and time periods. The Core Curriculum is a set of 10 courses that every student takes. Upper-year students can enrol in a Senior Writing Project course in a workshop format under supervision.
Students can also take part in opportunities Beyond Campus through a semester abroad at Oxford University in England, with activities including visits to theatrical productions, museums, and historical sites. The Uganda Studies Program offers reflective, analytical, practical writing based on experiences.
