Bachelor's in Media Production
Introduction
Media Production is a Bachelor program taught at Redeemer College, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Redeemer College’s Media Production program is offered as a Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies degree and as a major and minor in the Bachelor of Arts degree. Students study the forms, uses, and interpretations of media, with a focus on storytelling techniques through media. The program prepares students to assess and interact with mass media, discern message influence, and understand how messages shape identity.
From the start, students use the Mac lab, video production equipment, and software. Courses provide theoretical foundations and practice skills, including opportunities to work with film and video through areas such as Documentaries and through projects tied to lab components. Industry-standard equipment and software are available for student use in courses with lab components and in projects and coursework.
Students also complete an internship consisting of 120 hours of on-site work in digital media, which can include blog and web content as well as film and television production. Graduates are described by Redeemer as able to pursue roles such as content creators and videographers, and they can go on to further studies including MAs in Communications, Digital Media, and Media Management.
