Introduction

Nordic Master in Folk Music (NoFo), Master of Music is a Masters program taught at University of the Arts Helsinki, Finland. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years 6 months) options.

Nordic Master in Folk Music (NoFo) is an international master’s programme in folk music arranged by four higher education institutions: the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, the Danish National Academy of Music in Esbjerg, the Ole Bull Academy in Voss, and the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. The programme is a collaboration between these institutions, and the arranging universities take turns hosting the studies.

Students study in a tight-knit ensemble that performs regularly during the course. The programme includes individual work, high-quality instruction and guidance from teachers in each partner institution. It also includes a music management module in which the NoFo ensemble organises a tour for itself in the Nordic countries at the end of the studies.
