Introduction

MA Physics is a Masters program taught at Institut Polytechnique de Paris, France. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Master 1 experience described for this program includes an initiation to research in the Laboratory of Applied Optics (LOA). It connects to a research-oriented PhD track in plasma physics, with emphasis on taking part in research activities rather than only completing theoretical study.

The program uses an “à la carte” format and an approach where a student can take research hours instead of taking theoretical courses that validate ECTS. Students are accompanied by a tutor, who supports both course choice and the research part. The described student worked with a scientific supervisor from LOA.
