It combines theoretical content from lectures and seminars with applied formats such as exercises, practice courses, and research-based learning. A placement and teaching exercises support job-related experience, and the fourth semester includes a master’s thesis based on an individual research question.

Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln states that the degree qualifies graduates for subject and leadership tasks in the health system, research, and other fields, including clinical and rehabilitation settings and research institutions. The university also states that the master provides a foundation for pursuing a promotion.

The minimum requirements for admission in M.Sc. Sport- und Bewegungstherapie, Prävention und bewegungsbezogene Gesundheitsforschung at Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

Access requirement is a successfully completed bachelor’s degree with at least 180 performance points according to European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) or an equivalent successfully completed degree.

Admission regulations also require:

• fachlicher Schwerpunkt im Bereich der Sport-, Gesundheits- oder Rehabilitationswissenschaft
• mindestens 90 ECTS im Fach Sportwissenschaft, wovon 870h oder 29 ECTS-Punkte die Bereiche nach dem 2. Präventionsprinzip (nach dem GKV-Leitfaden1, Fassung vom 17. Dezember 2025, Tabelle 2) abdecken müssen. Die genaue Auflistung finden Sie in der Zulassungsordnung.
