Master's in Soziale Arbeit in der Migrationsgesellschaft
Introduction
Soziale Arbeit in der Migrationsgesellschaft is a Masters program taught at Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Center for Advanced Studies (CAS), Germany. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1–2 years) options.
The Masterstudiengang Soziale Arbeit in der Migrationsgesellschaft (DHBW CAS) qualifies students for tasks related to migration issues, diversity, interculturality, and integration. Students receive practice-focused social-work and social-science knowledge linked with migration-related competencies. The programme includes work on social-work theories and their effects on society, plus migration theories and policies, legal foundations, and methods, approaches, and concepts of migration-related social work.
The degree has a modular structure with 14 modules, including the Masterarbeit. It is designed as a dual programme with professional practice integrated into studies: students use challenges from their work routine directly in the programme, reflect on practice with theories, and test them again in practice.
The programme starts with an opening event. Each module includes 5 in-person event days split into 2-day and 3-day blocks, plus additional exam dates. Lectures and learning units can include in-person and digital teaching; the remaining time is for work in the employer institution and independent study.
