Bachelor's in Jazz/Rock/Pop
Introduction
Jazz/Rock/Pop is a Bachelor program taught at Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber, Germany. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Jazz/Rock/Pop programme at Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber supports students in developing an independent artistic personality through a comprehensive musical education. Students explore stylistic openness across Jazz, Rock, Pop, Latin, Funk, and free improvisation, and they develop artistic ideas through performances with ensembles.
Ensemble work starts from the beginning. Students play, arrange, and improvise together in formats such as Bigband, Themenensembles, Jazzchor, and Improvisationsensembles. The hfmdd jazz orchestra acts as the “symphony orchestra” for the programme, with a focus on orchestral playing and preparation for musical, stylistic, and psychological job requirements. After the second study year, students can request part of the instruction with teachers from other instruments.
