Introduction

Bachelor of Education - Church of Ireland Pathway (Restricted Entry) is a Bachelor program taught at Dublin City University, Ireland. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 Years) options.

Dublin City University’s Bachelor of Education - Church of Ireland Pathway (Restricted Entry) prepares students for work as a Primary School Teacher. The course focuses on how children learn and how to teach the subjects of the primary school curriculum, with interactive lectures that develop knowledge and understanding of the world.

Teaching is structured across Years 1 to 4. Students take modules in Psychology, Philosophy Sociology of Education and History of Education, then undertake a research project in Year 4. Learners spend time in schools in each year, with extended placements in Years 3 and 4, building from observing the class teacher to teaching all day, plus a four-week visit to the Gaeltacht.

On successful completion, graduates are qualified to be registered as teachers with the Teaching Council.
