Bachelor's in Applied Physics

Applied Physics is a Bachelor program taught at Dublin City University, Ireland. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Dublin City University offers a BSc in Applied Physics (NFQ Level 8). DCU states that the course focuses on real-world applications of fundamental physics, delivered through a blend of lectures, tutorials, and strong laboratory and project work. Students develop theoretical and analytical knowledge alongside hands-on experimental, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

DCU states that the course focuses on nanotechnology, computational physics, and machine learning. An INTRA work placement is included, and the final year project allows students to apply their skills to tackling and solving real problems. The programme is entered via the Physics General Entry route (DC175), confirming the choice at the end of Year 1.

The minimum requirements for admission in Applied Physics at Dublin City University for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Dublin City University.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Dublin City University as pre-requiste for admission in Applied Physics.

General entry requirements
There is no direct entry to the programme. All entries to this programme are via DC175 Physics General Entry.

Advanced entry
Applicants that have completed at least one year of study at NFQ Level 6, 7 or 8 at another institution may apply to continue their studies on a similar programme at DCU. There should be substantial overlap in content between the two programmes to be considered for a transfer.

Results and other supporting documentation must be submitted to CAO by the closing date of 1st July. This is a competitive application process for a small quota of advanced entry places. Offers are made on a rolling basis until all places are filled. Early application is advised.

International applications
There is no direct entry to the programme. All entries to this programme are via DC175 Physics General Entry.
