Bachelor of Arts Hons

Bachelor of Arts Hons is a Bachelor program taught at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia. Intake: September. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3.5 years / 7 semester) options.

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English Language Studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia is designed to develop flexible graduates specialized in the English language field. Students explore linguistics, education and training, English literature and performing arts, and corporate and professional applications of English.

Teaching focuses on skills and knowledge in linguistics and language, critical thinking about written genres and literary texts, effective information management through reading and interpreting texts, and communication using the English sound system. Students also develop writing skills for reports, memos, business letters, and literary reviews, along with entrepreneural and management skills and skills for information processing and problem solving. The programme runs for 3.5 years across 7 semesters, with an intake in September at the UKM Bangi campus.

The minimum requirements for admission in Bachelor of Arts Hons at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as pre-requiste for admission in Bachelor of Arts Hons.

• Complete 12 years of Primary and High School education; and
• Obtain High School (e.g. Higher Secondary Certificate, Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate, Tawjihiyah, Ijazah Sekolah Menengah Atas, High School Diploma); and
• Meet minimum English requirement set by faculty; and
• Pass UKM interview (if required) ; and
• Meet faculty specific requirement;

Malaysian qualification: Any 3 subjects: Mathematics; Physics; Chemistry / Biology; Biology; Geography; Economy; Accounting; Sociology; Anthropology; History; Arabic language**; Sharia / Usuluddin**. Note: ** Required subject for Islamic Studies program.

International qualification: The General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level: CCC or 96 UCAS Tariff Points (A to D only). International Baccalaureate Diploma: 25 point overall. Score of 3 in two(2) Higher Level. Country requirements also list entry percentages (e.g., 85%, 80%, 70%) and indicate “Subject to faculty review” for some countries.
