BSC in Materials Science Engineering
Introduction
The BSc in Materials Science & Engineering at EPFL develops a foundation in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, alongside multidisciplinary knowledge in materials science. You study the structure and properties of materials, principles behind their transformations, and techniques used to address challenges in materials design and engineering. The program covers metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites, and focuses on methods to analyze and classify them.
The program typically lasts three years and totals 180 credits. It includes complementary practical work and tutorials to help you apply concepts and build hands-on skills. Alongside technical and scientific training, you take courses in social sciences to develop critical thinking and awareness of how science interacts with society.
