Drama & Theatre
Introduction
Drama & Theatre is a program taught at Aberystwyth University, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Aberystwyth University’s Drama & Theatre programme supports study of drama and theatre through practical and theoretical explorations. Students experiment with texts, practices, and production work, and encounter historic and contemporary theatre forms, from scripted drama to site-specific performance. The programme also covers different perspectives, including cultures, histories, politics, aesthetics, and ethics.
Teaching combines practical and theoretical work, with critically examining and engaging with contemporary practices such as playhouse theatre, environmental theatre, and performance installation. Students take part in two performance or production projects each year as they progress, developing their own practice as an independent artist and applying their skills to making work within or beyond drama and theatre.
