Introduction

Forensic Linguistics is a September 2026 Masters program taught at Aston University, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1–2 years) options.

Aston University’s Forensic Linguistics MA is a full-time programme that blends advanced linguistic study with practical legal applications. Students explore legal language, spoken interaction in legal contexts, online crime, and authorship analysis in the module Forensic Linguistics: Theory & Practice. They also complete Practical Applications in Forensic Linguistics, focused on ethical data collection and analysis, including independently developing projects or reports on language within legal contexts.

The taught stage is supported by Aston Global Advantage, which focuses on professional acumen through activities such as collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams on real-world challenges. The MA includes a dissertation phase, where students complete a research project on a forensic linguistics topic of their choice with consideration of ethics, theory, and methods. The programme includes optional extra-curricular casework group activities.
