Bachelor's in Fashion Textiles

Fashion Textiles is a Bachelor program taught at Bath Spa University, UK. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Bath Spa University’s BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles develops students’ understanding of how textiles shape fashion design. The course covers research and design development, historical and critical contexts, drawing and illustration, colour and fabric development, and translating ideas from 2D to 3D. It includes textiles for fashion design, with drape and modelling and textiles fabrication for fashion design.

Teaching is delivered through bespoke fashion design studios at Locksbrook Campus. Assessment uses submission of a portfolio of work. Students learn through design projects that follow research, development of ideas, analysis, reflection and an outcome. There are specific projects and design briefs for external audiences, plus informal reviews and presentations, and there are no written exams.

The course includes a professional placement year module. Students also have opportunities to enter national design competitions and develop a fashion portfolio and self-promotional materials. Work can be showcased in Bath and at the Bath Spa University Undergraduate Degree Show, with the opportunity to appear at Graduate Fashion Week in London.

The minimum requirements for admission in Fashion Textiles at Bath Spa University for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:
