Introduction

Biology: Concentration Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology is a Bachelor program taught at Austin Peay State University, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

This Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology prepares students to demonstrate command of general principles of biology in genetics, organismal biology, population biology, ecology, and evolution. Students also develop quantitative analytical skills for data analysis, including problem solving through analysis of graphical representation of data.

The concentration supports training across ecology, evolution, and organismal biology, with options ranging from field biology, botany, zoology, conservation biology, and genetics to focused study of organism types such as mammalogy, ichthyology, ornithology, and herpetology. Students have opportunities for research and study abroad, and can use hands-on learning through the Department’s relationship with the Center of Excellence for Field Biology and the Southeastern Grasslands Institute.

The program includes close collaboration between students and faculty through immersive experiences. Students work toward skills mastery using an evaluation tool established by the Department, and demonstrate career preparedness through both content knowledge and skills mastery. Academic advisement supports timely completion of the degree and development as a biologist.
