Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Introduction
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a program taught at Carrington College California-Sacramento, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (as few as 18 months) options.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Carrington College California-Sacramento trains students to capture ultrasound images to assist in patient diagnosis. Students train in abdominal, OB-GYN, and vascular imaging and gain hands-on experience. The program leads to an Associate of Science degree.
Students develop skills in ultrasound image acquisition and evaluation, plus patient care. Training includes real-world application of concepts such as human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, sonographic patient care, and ultrasound physics. Students perform ultrasound procedures in abdomen, superficial structures, small parts, OB-GYN, and vascular, and they determine pathologies, congenital anomalies, lab values, and differential diagnoses.
The program is offered at the Bakersfield and Temecula locations. Graduates are prepared for entry-level diagnostic medical sonographer roles, also described as ultrasound technologists or technicians.
