Introduction

Art History is a Bachelor program taught at Castleton State University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Major in Art History at Loyola University Chicago focuses on the historical and critical study of visual arts. Students take courses covering topics and periods from the arts of the ancient world to those of Asia, Africa, early modern Europe, and contemporary art. The curriculum looks at art objects from a variety of cultures across time, with attention to major monuments, artists, ideas, and themes.

Courses emphasize visual, verbal, writing, and critical thinking skills. Students build the ability to form persuasive arguments using evidence found in tangible objects, original documents, and scholarly literature. The program also supports combinations with other majors, with Department limits on how many courses can count toward a double major in Fine Arts and toward major and minor in Fine Arts.
