Art History
Introduction
Art History is a Bachelor program taught at Boston College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Boston College’s Art History course studies images, objects, and buildings from a broad range of historical periods and geographical regions. Students examine how people saw themselves in the past and how art relates to power, including its potential to influence contemporary social issues. The degree also supports skills in careful observation, critical analysis, historical research, and written communication.
Faculty teaching and research span the arts of Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the Islamic world, from ancient to contemporary times. The program involves interdisciplinary collaboration through co-teaching, joint research projects, workshops, conferences, and museum curation. Art history courses use Boston College’s McMullen Museum of Art and other cultural institutions, and students engage in summer internships and study abroad for first-hand experience.
