Biology
Introduction
Biology is a Bachelor program taught at Boston College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Boston College’s Biology department offers three undergraduate degree programs: Biology B.S., Biology B.A., and Biochemistry B.S. The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology is a structured program for biology majors interested in aspects of the field that require a strong background knowledge in physics, chemistry, and mathematics, and for students who want to fulfill pre-medical/pre-dental requirements. Degree study includes choosing a concentration, including Bioinformatics, Cell Biology and Development, General Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Microbiology, and Physiology and Organismal Biology.
Each concentration emphasizes different biology areas. The Cell Biology and Development concentration covers eukaryotic cell structure, cell differentiation and morphogenesis, and molecular biology of cell functions and organismal development. The Physiology and Organismal Biology concentration includes hands-on experience through upper-level electives with a laboratory section (for example, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology) and advanced experience courses (for example, Vertebrate Biomechanics, Cancer as a Metabolic Disease). The page also states that research, mentoring, or teaching opportunities may be arranged with core faculty.
