Introduction

3/2 Engineering Program is a program taught at Clark University, USA. Intake: Fall semester. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (Five-year program) options.

The 3-2 Engineering Program at Clark University combines engineering study with liberal arts disciplines. Students take pre-engineering courses in the sciences and classes in the arts, humanities, and social sciences for three years, then move to two years of advanced engineering studies at Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. Completion leads to two degrees: a B.A. from Clark and a B.S. in engineering from Columbia.

The program is five years long and requires timely progress through a curriculum that must be started during the first year of study. Students with high school preparation that does not prepare them for calculus (MATH 120) and composition (ENG 020) during the first semester may enroll in a summer semester to complete requirements on time. Columbia engineering school enrollment requires a formal application for admission submitted during the junior year through the 3-2 Engineering Committee.

Modules

  • Calculus: MATH 124 and 125 (satisfies FA) (a)
  • Physics: PHYS 120 and 121 (satisfies SP) (Phys 110 is not acceptable)
  • Chemistry: CHEM 101 and 102.
  • A VE perspective course e.g. Intro to Literary Analysis ENGL 20
  • One more perspective course, it may be a course from your major area.
  • Capstone course in computer science, required for the major. (It is usually reserved for seniors but can be taken by juniors with the strong background given by this program).

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission in 3/2 Engineering Program at Clark University for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

  • program specific academic requirment set by Clark University.
  • English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Clark University as pre-requiste for admission in 3/2 Engineering Program.

Note: Please check the university website in the link below.

The required curriculum must be started during the first year of study to permit the timely completion of all requirements. Students whose high school background, as determined by placement examinations, has not prepared them to enter calculus (MATH 120) and composition (ENG 020) during their first semester may not be able to enter the program unless they enroll in a summer semester to complete the requirements on time.
