Biblical & Theological Studies
Introduction
Biblical & Theological Studies is a program taught at Covenant College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Biblical and Theological Studies at Covenant College equips students with general biblical and theological literacy in the Reformed tradition. Students learn to closely read biblical and historical texts, think critically about complex issues, and express themselves in writing and speaking while thinking deeply about ethical issues according to God’s Word. The program trains students to apply biblical truth for Church and society and to engage issues connected with biblical scholarship and the content of the Gospel against modern belief systems.
Students develop skills through courses and senior capstone projects. Example course offerings include MIS 203 Missionary Methods and Problems, BIB 212 Preparing for Relational Youth Ministry Skills, MIS 302 World Religions, BIB 379 Faith and Suffering, BIB 387 John Calvin and the Reformed Tradition, and BIB 395 Current Issues in Biblical Studies. Recent capstone topics include Continuity & Consistency in the Thought of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Youth Ministry, Does the Body Matter?, and Just War.
Graduates pursue vocations including Bible Teacher, Director of Youth Ministry, Missionary, Maclellan Foundation staff, Theology Professor, and Pastor.
