Mathematics
Introduction
Mathematics is a program taught at Davidson College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Mathematics Major and Minor at Davidson College focuses on an in-depth study of mathematics. Students build an understanding of patterns in observations and take a wide selection of courses that can be tailored to their interests. The curriculum supports mathematical, computational, and algorithmic points of view, with an emphasis on communicating reasoning through mathematically rigorous proof.
Course options include Mathematical Modeling, which surveys discrete mathematical and computational modeling techniques and emphasizes formulating models, investigating them analytically and computationally, and communicating results. Other listed options include Sets and Proofs, which develops proof techniques, set theory topics, infinite cardinalities, and properties of sets of real numbers, and Graph Theory, which covers topics such as trees, connectivity, graph distances, adjacency matrices, graph colorings, planarity, network flows, algorithms, and extremal problems.
