Military Science (ROTC)
Introduction
Military Science (ROTC) is a program taught at Davidson College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Military Science (ROTC) at Davidson College trains and commissions officers for the United States Army. The program develops leaders of character who are physically fit and tactically competent, with the ability to lead small groups in complex environments, and it complements a student’s major area of study across most degree programs.
Students pursue a commission through military science leadership coursework and training. To obtain a commission, they must successfully complete the Advanced Course, be recommended by the professor of military science, and complete work leading to at least a baccalaureate degree.
There is no military obligation for taking any first-year or sophomore Army ROTC classes and leadership labs.
Students who are not interested in active duty service can be guaranteed a commission in the Army Reserve or Army National Guard through the Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) program and may be eligible to participate in the Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program.
